Maple Camembert Melt
Last time I was grocery shopping, mini-rounds of Camembert cheese were on sale for about 1/3 of the regular price, so I decided to try a Cora’s-inspired baked cheese delight for breakfast. I have made this with Brie before too, both are delicious. The Camembert, being a less creamy cheese, takes about five minutes longer to bake than the Brie.
All you’ll need is:
- 1 mini-round of Brie or Camembert
- 1 granny smith apple
- maple syrup
- a handful or more of walnuts
Line a cake pan with tin foil. I like to slice the top layer of rind off the cheese and arrange the apples in a pretty little circle on top of the cheese. Pour maple syrup over the apples to your heart’s content. Bake at 350F for 10-15 minutes (the softer the cheese, the less time you’ll need). Don’t be shy with the baking – it’s better when the cheese is hot and runny. Top with raw walnuts and maybe a little more maple.
Not going to get into details about whether it’s healthy or not….it’s just freakin’ decadent.
