Looking for a small treat? This one’s pretty easy, and it only takes about an hour!
- 1/2 cup brown or yellow sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 gallon popped popcorn
Preheat the oven to 250F. In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring the sugar, butter, salt, and water to a boil, stirring constantly. Once the sugar has thickened slightly (so that it coats the back of the spoon), add the vanilla and baking soda. In a large pan (a turkey roaster works really well) drizzle the sugar mix onto the popcorn, stirring as you pour. Bake at 250F for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Let the popcorn cool before eating.
Add peanuts, chocolate chips, pretzels, kosher salt or whatever else you might fancy to spice it up!
