Garden Plotting

So it’s time to put my design skills to the test. I mapped out my veggie garden by hand, then transferred it to GrowVeg, and today I measured it out in real life! I think I was off by about a foot, but I’m pretty happy with how close I came to what I expected. Now that I have the plot, I can start finding out what kind of soil amendments I’ll need, since we put a few yards of topsoil on top of the earth that was there. Now let’s just hope what remains of my little seedlings make it to planting time…

It’s a good thing I took pictures of my beautiful seedlings while I had em. The wind knocked over my greenhouse and I salvaged about half of what I had going, but lost my big tomato plants – if the remaining tomato plants don’t manage to make it I’ll be purchasing pre-grown seedlings, which is fine this year. Sadly, I have no idea which peppers are which anymore save the ones that had the label in the pot, but I discovered that those plants are pretty tough. I have time to restart the brussels sprouts and pickling cucumbers, which is good.

  1. Upon further inspection, I realized that my tomato plants would be shading my carrots as they grow. I’ll switch up the snap peas and the carrots, hopefully that will solve the issue. Either way, the plot gets so much sun I’m not really concerned.
